How to Run an Application as Administrator in Windows 8

Windows 8 does away with the Start Menu we all know and love, and introduces a more “immersive” Start Screen. Since there’s no context menu on the Start Screen you may be wondering how to run applications as administrator–here’s how.

Running a Application as Administrator on Windows 8

In order to launch an a Metro application we first have to be on the Start Screen, if you are not here you can quickly press the Windows key to switch to it.
Next we need to select the application that we want to run as administrator, to do this we right-click on it.
If you look to the bottom of the screen, you will see a run as administrator button, click it.
You should see a UAC prompt now, just click yes to launch the application. That’s all there is to it.

Control Remote Windows, Mac & Linux Systems Through VNC

Just a few days ago, we covered OnlineVNC, a VNC solution that allows you to control a remote PC via a web browser. Today, we will look into another VNC application called RealVNC, which is quite different from OnlineVNC in terms of the way it allows users to interact with a VNC server. Both the server and client (viewer) come packed into a single setup file. Instead of using the web browser, you need the Viewer application to access the shared machine from the remote location. Moreover, RealVNC supports multiple platforms, namely Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX, and has paid Viewer apps for Android and iOS as well. RealVNC is very powerful, and becomes quite user-friendly too once you get the hang of the VNC connection’s setup process. Read on for more details.

Firefox 13 is out as we announced just two days ago, and is, by far, one of the most feature rich releases that Mozilla has rolled out since it went on a rapid release channel. Many of its previous versions didn’t really enjoy as much love as the old ones, with users adamantly sticking to Firefox 3, 3.5 and 4.
